Ahead of its May 27 release date, fans are buzzing with excitement and anticipation for Joseph Kosinski’s Top Gun: Maverick. It’s been 36 years since the release of the original Top Gun and only now is the classic action film getting its sequel. The film has a lot to live up to, and Paramount Pictures has been working to ensure it gets as much exposure as possible.
Last Monday during Cinema Con, Paramount Pictures announced its brand new partnership with YouTube. Within that partnership, Top Gun: Maverick is going to be live streamed all over the world as its premiere is happening in real time. The stream will be beginning on May 4th, which is 21 days before its theatrical release, giving the film a whole month of extra advertisement before it’s even available to be watched. According to Paramount, the live stream will include red carpet moments as well as exclusive interviews with the cast and creative team. In addition to the renowned internet video site, the live stream will also be played across Paramount’s many channels such as MTV, Comedy Central, and BET.
The stream is being described as innovative, using technology to give fans an at home experience that’s better than being there in person. Fans can watch the livestream on YouTube or any Paramount owned channel starting on May 4th.
