With production just weeks away, Toni Collette (Krampus) has joined the cast of xXx3: The Return of Xander Cage, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Colette will play a government bureaucrat. The film reportedly revolves around two teams of spies facing off against each other. The cast includes Vin Diesel (The Last Witch Hunter) returning to the role of Xander Cage from the first film, as well as Tony Jaa (Furious 7), Jet Li (The Expendables 3), Samuel L. Jackson (The Hateful Eight), Nina Dobrev (TV’s The Vampire Diaries), Ruby Rose (Netflix’s Orange is the New Black), and Deepika Padukone (Bajirao Mastani). Ice Cube (Barbershop 3) who played Darius Stone, another agent in the XXX program, is rumored to be in the film as well but hasn’t been confirmed. The sequel will be directed by D.J. Caruso (Disturbia).
While XXX 3 isn’t expected to release until 2017, Collette has a busy year of releases in 2016 appearing in five films that include the war drama The Yellow Birds, the thriller Imperium and the mystery Jasper Jones. Last fall she appeared in the drama Miss You Already and the holiday horror film Krampus.
