Fashion designer and director Tom Ford (A Single Man) is set to team-up with George Clooney (The Monuments Men) for an adaptation of the Austin Wright novel titled Tony and Susan, which will be retitled Nocturnal Animals, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The novel follows woman, Susan, who receives a book manuscrit from her ex-husband, asking for her opinion. The manuscript is titled Nocturnal Animals, and follows a family vacation turned violent. Over the course of reading the manuscript, Susan recalls her own marriage and has to confront some dark truths about herself.
Clooney’s company, Smokehouse Productions, will be handling the project. No studio has gotten involved yet, though Smokehouse does have a first-look deal with Sony, so that would appear to be the natural landing spot. For now Clooney is only attached to produce the project and there hasn’t been any confirmation if, or who, the Ocean’s Eleven actor would play in the film.
Ford hasn’t directed a movie since his debut feature in 2009, A Single Man, which earned its star Colin Firth an Oscar nomination. Ford received an Independent Spirit award nomination for the screenplay.
