Wait no longer; Deadline reports that Timothée Chalamet posted on his Instagram a first look at his version playing Willy Wonka in the upcoming film about the future chocolate factory proprietor. Chalamet has 13.6 million followers, so his fans and Willy Wonka enthusiasts are sure to look forward to his new role.
The new film, titled Wonka, focuses on a young Will Wonka and his adventures before he created his chocolate factory. It is anticipated that Chalamet will showcase his singing and dancing skills for the first time in the prequel.
Paul King directs from the screenplay he wrote with Simon Farnaby. This is the third time that Warner Bros. revamped the Wonka story, previous versions being adaptations of Roald Dahl’s classic novel Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The first one starred Gene Wilder as Wonka in 1971, and the second in 2005 starred Johnny Depp. The plot details are unknown for now, but the new pic will definitely be an origin tale of the character and marks the first time Charlie Bucket will not be featured.
Chalamet will be seen in the upcoming Dune, out later this month. Check out Chalamet’s first look on his Instagram post below.
