Having recently wrapped up production on the YA novel adaptation of Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Tim Burton‘s plate only continues to fill. He’s still attached to Disney‘s live-action remake of Dumbo, which is reportedly stated for 2017 release, but that seems far-fetched now with what Tim Burton has just confirmed. A sequel to his 1988 cult classic, Beetlejuice, has had rumors circling it for quite some time, and it was unclear whether or not its stars, Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton, would return.
But Burton himself has finally announced that the sequel is ready for production. Fans of the original have been begging for a sequel since its release three decades ago, and they now have their wish. In a recent interview with Showbiz Spy, Burton stated:
The film is a go and has been approved by the Warner Bros. team, we have talked with the cast members we wanted for the film and they are all on board, this includes both Winona and Michael. We have the script in hand everything is in place all we need to do now is get ready to start filming.
After the reports early this morning, another statement came out by Burton’s rep a few hours ago via MTV, stating that there was no statement given by the director to Showbiz Spy confirming the film. But with Keaton having come off his Oscar-nominated performance in 2014’s Birdman and Ryder in the acclaimed HBO miniseries Show Me A Hero, both definitely seem up for the project. Because of the statement denying the go-ahead for the sequel, it’s unclear whether or not it’s off for good or just postponed temporally. Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children will be released on September 30, 2016.
