Despite the relatively quiet weekend, theaters still saw plenty of traffic with Thunderbolts* bringing in $33 million for second weekend once more keeping Sinners from dominating. Sinners finished 2nd this weekend with $21.1 million. The phenomenal sleeper hit from Ryan Coogler is towering above 3rd place’s A Minecraft Movie which brought in $7.95 million after string 6 Week performance. Minecraft and Warner Bros. are determined but fell short of dethroning the total box office Gross of Paramount’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie succeeded in hitting 1 billion back in 2023 which Minecraft has just hitting shy at around 900 million, it could still inch to the 1 billion club over its final weeks but only time will tell.
In 4th place came The Accountant 2 tallying up $6.1 million beating newcomer A Clown In A Cornfield which brought in $3.6 million to slash its way into 5th, the horror flick about a clown stalking a small town the second newcomer Shadow Force. The action film saw $2.01 million letting it just barely sneak by Fight Or Flight which landed in 7th with $2.001 million.
Until Dawn hangs on to the 8th Place with $2 million while The Amateur sat down in 9th with a solid $1.1 million in its fifth week. King Of Kings bows out in 10th with $680 thousand after a very healthy 5 week run.
Notably, Friendship from A24 starring Tim Robinson and Paul Rudd preformed phenomenally despite only being a limited release gracing 6 theaters which hit a 75,137 average. An opening A24 has boasted is the best opening this year so far for an indie production.
