‘Three Incestuous Sisters’ Adaptation Lands Jessie Buckley, Dakota Johnson, Josh O’Connor, And Saoirse Ronan

Jessie Buckley in 'Hamnet'

The quartet of Jessie Buckley, Dakota Johnson, Josh O’Connor, and Saoirse Ronan are being brought together for an upcoming movie. All four stars have been cast in Three Incestuous Sisters, an adaptation based on the novel of the same name.

Written by Audrey Niffenegger in 2005, The Three Incestuous Sisters follows a trio of sisters who live on the side of the ocean. But when a handsome stranger appears and begins to grow closer to each of the sisters, a divide begins to form between them, leading to their bonds devolving into disaster. Deadline, in their exclusive coverage, reported that the film isn’t slated to be an exact adaptation of the story, however. Instead, it’s set to be a loose retelling of it, with just how it’ll differ still kept under wraps. Alice Rohrwacher will be directing, with a co-writing credit as she split the screenplay with Ottessa Moshfegh.

As far as the stars go, many of them have had a string of strong performances recently, with some yet to come. Jessie Buckley made a huge splash thanks to her Hamnet performance, and has even been nominated for Best Actress at the Oscars thanks to it. She’s also appearing later this week in The Bride! once it hits wide release. Johnson is set to headline this year’s Verity alongside Anne Hathaway, while Ronan, known greatly for Lady Bird and Little Women, will be starring in all four Beatles biopics as Linda McCartney. Finally, O’Connor, who is known for his work in films like Challengers, will be appearing in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming film Disclosure Day.
