‘Three Hearts’ Gets U.S. Distribution at the Venice Film Festival

Thanks to Venice Film Festival, a French film is coming to the U.S. Three Hearts has been picked up by Cohen Media Group. Directed by Benoit Jacquot (Farewell, My Queen), Three Hearts is a drama about a messy love triangle.

Three Hearts is written by Jacquot and Julien Boiyent, who had previously collaborated together on Villa Amalia (2009). The film focuses on a tax official, Marc, played by Benoit Poelvoorde (Man Bites Dog), as he struggles to breathe within the confines of love and lust for two sisters. His fling with Sylvie, played by Charlotte Gainsbourg (Nymphomaniac), is directly followed by a romance with her sister, Chiara Mastroianni’s (Persepolis) Sophie. Their mother, played by the Oscar-nominated Catherine Deneuve (Indochine) becomes involved with this family’s conflict.

Variety described Three Hearts as: “a modern twist on classic romantic melodramas, from An Affair to Remember to Before Sunrise.”

The film will be shown at TIFF 2014. Cohen Media Group is a New York based production company, which previously picked up Abderrahmane Sissako’s French film, Timbuktu at Cannes this year.
