‘Thor: Love and Thunder”s Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher Was Inspired by Aphex Twin’s ‘Come to Daddy’

Christian Bale is an iconic actor for his performance as Batman in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. Whenever Christian Bale plays in an action-packed movie, he brings great intensity to his characters. In the upcoming Marvel film and the third installment of Thor, Bale will be introduced as Gorr the God Butcher. Bale surprises fans with his return to the superhero world, considering back in 2017 when asked if he would consider another super role for Marvel, Bale said he was definitely not interested:

No, I’m not interested in doing that. I’ve never seen — I’m trying to think if that’s correct, I think I’m actually corrected, I can’t remember a single superhero film that I’ve ever watched. Apart from the ones I made and like, the Christopher Reeve Superman films.

When Bale talked about the role of Gorr on the red carpet at the film’s premiere, he said he used a rock song to capture the inspiration:

I was definitely influenced by the looks of ‘Nosferatu’ and the musician Aphex Twin. He has a great video called ‘Come to Daddy’ with a character that Taika and I liked and he was my reference.

Bale also talked about the Gorr’s uncomfortable long fingernails on set.

It made me completely unable to do anything. I found myself thinking things like, I don’t think I can walk because I have long nails.’ It hit my brain. I was like. ‘I can’t eat. I have long nails.’ I couldn’t do anything.
