Theo James, Forest Whitaker Set to Star in ‘How it Ends’

According to Deadline, Theo James (Divergent franchise) has been announced to star in Netflix’s How it Ends. David M. Rosenthal (The Perfect Guy) is attached to direct from a Black List script by Brooks McLaren. The post-apocalyptic action thriller centers on a world catastrophic event of unknown origin. James will play a man desperate to return home to his pregnant wife from the other side of the country. Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker (Arrival) has also just been announced to co-star.

Netflix acquired worldwide rights in January. Paul Schiff, Tai Duncan, Kelly McCormick and Patrick Newall are producing. Sierra’s Nick Meyer and Marc Schaberg are executive producers.

James is currently filming the romance Zoe starring Ewan McGregor (Beauty and the Beast) and French actress Léa Seydoux (Spectre). He will star next in the political thriller Backstabbing For Beginners with Oscar-winning actor Ben Kingsley (War Machine) and Jacqueline Bisset (Miss You Already).

Whitaker, ever the busy actor, has five films currently in post-production: The Forgiven in which he plays Desmond Tutu, the crime thriller LAbyrinth detailing the murders of Tupac Shakur and Notorious BIG, the 1970s-set Finding Steve McQueen, KKK drama Burden, and the sci-fi action film Black Panther.

How it Ends is set to start filming in Canada next month.
