The United Kingdom Will Never Surrender in the New ‘Darkest Hour’ Trailer

Films have focused on the carnage and destruction of World War II, with the new Dunkirk and Saving Private Ryan illustrating the horrors of war. Very rarely do we receive the political side of war, but Darkest Hour looks to focus on one of the most central figures in the WWII political circuit: Winston Churchill.

Darkest Hour looks to focus on the beginning of Winston Churchill’s position of Prime Minister of Great Britain, where he had to make one of the most difficult decisions in all of history: attempt discussions with Nazi Germany on a peace treaty or stick to his guns and prepare for a potential invasion.

Gary Oldman (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, The Dark Knight) stars as the prime minister, and will be accompanied by fantastic cast including Kristin Scott Thomas (The English Patient, Mission Impossible), Lily James (Baby Driver, Cinderella), Stephen Dillane (Game of Thrones, The Hours), and Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One, The Dark Knight Rises).

Joe Wright (Atonement, Hanna) has taken the reins for directing the film, with Anthony McCarten (Death of A Superhero, The Theory of Everything) writing the screenplay. McCarten, Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, Lisa Bruce, and Douglas Urbanski will be producing.

Darkest Hour has received a January 2018 release date, and we are very excited to see how the iconic Churchill is portrayed in the film.
