A24 has released the first teaser as well as a poster for their upcoming film with Apple TV+ entitled The Tragedy of Macbeth. The film is an adaptation of the classic Shakespearean tragedy Macbeth.
The film is directed and penned for the screen by Joel Coen. One half of the Coen Brothers, Joel will dare into filmmaking without his longtime directing partner and brother, Ethan Coen. However, the duo did not split up. Ethan Coen simply is retiring from filmmaking.
The film is a star-studded affair that includes multiple Academy Award winners Denzel Washington and Frances McDormand as the Macbeths, as well as equally huge actors such as Corey Hawkins as Macduff, Brendan Gleeson as King Duncan, and Harry Melling as Malcom.
While Coen does not have his directing partner, he still has his life partner in McDormand starring as Lady Macbeth, and who is coming off multiple Oscar wins for acting and producing the 2021 Best Picture film Nomadland.
Overall, the trailer provokes and emotion that is in line with the original source material. The film looks eerie, intriguing, and riveting to say the least. A king driven to madness.
It is schedule for a release later this year on Apple TV+.
