‘The Sheep Detectives’ Becomes A Surprise Domestic Office Hit In Its Opening Weekend

The Sheep Detectives, a family-oriented murder mystery starring Hugh Jackman, was a surprise box office hit in its opening weekend. The film was able to bring in $15 million domestically.

The film opened alongside the Billie Eilish concert film Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard and Soft – The Tour Live in 3D and Mortal Kombat II. In the domestic charts, The Sheep Detectives ended up at #4, falling behind the Michael Jackson biopic Michael in its third weekend, Mortal Kombat II, and The Devil Wears Prada 2 in its second weekend.

The Sheep Detectives has also been a surprise critical success. Currently, the film holds a Certified Fresh 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film also currently has a Metacritic score of 72.

The Sheep Detectives is a live-action/CGI hybrid family film that follows a group of sheep who must solve the murder of their shepherd, played by Hugh Jackman, using the knowledge they gained from the murder-mystery novels their shepherd read to them each night. The film’s voice cast consists of Brett Goldstein, Patrick Stewart, Regina Hall, Bella Ramsey, Chris O’Dowd, Rhys Darby, Bryan Cranston, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. The film’s live-action cast consists of Emma Thompson, Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine, Hong Chau, Tosin Cole, and Conleth Hill.

The Sheep Detectives is now playing in theaters.
