The Rock Breaks Silence On James Gunn’s DC Changes And Black Adam’s Uncertain Future

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson “changed” the DC universe when he made a promise that would lead to the release of Black Adam.

Johnson first announced he would be part of the DC Comics movie he’s been working on for 15 years by introducing his Black Adam character alongside Justice Society of America names like Hawkman, Doctor Fate, Atom Smasher, and Cyclones. Since the film’s release, much of what Black Adam hoped to achieve in the DC Universe film has been wiped out, and Johnson has now issued a statement regarding the change.

Everything began in October when news broke that Henry Cavill was returning to the DC franchise for the first time since 2017’s Justice League, which received a proper re-release in the form of Zack Snyder’s Justice League in 2021. Johnson took to announce his return and other iconic comic book characters to return to the big screen with a “welcome home” message.

Later on, Warner Bros Discovery then hired new executives for the DC Universe and launched the DC Studios brand. It was announced that Suicide Squad director James Gunn and Suicide Squad, Aquaman, Shazam! producer Peter Safran are now co-CEOs of DC Studios. With their new vision for the DC Universe, Henry Cavill will be the first major role revealed as a recast.

Johnson took to social media to announce the message.
