The Orchard Acquires Halle Berry-Daniel Craig Starrer ‘Kings’

According to Deadline, The Orchard has acquired North American rights to Kings, following strong promo reel. Turkish-French film director Deniz Gamze Ergüven, who made her debut with one of last year’s Best Foreign Film Oscar nominee Mustang, makes her English-language directorial debut feature with the drama. Daniel Craig (Spectre) stars opposite Academy Award-winning actress Halle Berry (TV’s Extant).

The story is set in 1992 South Central L.A. A foster family arrives in town a few weeks before the violence of the L.A. riots, which were set off following the verdict of the Rodney King trial.

Charles Gilbert of GC Cinema is producing. Maven Pictures co-founders Trudie Styler, Celine Rattray and Charlotte Ubben are executive producing along with Wei Han of Bliss Media and Vincent Maraval.

Kings is currently in post-production. A fall release is planned.
