The Multiverse is Unleashed in New ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ Poster

'Spiderman: Homecoming'

Sony has released the first official poster to Spider-Man: No Way Home, which has been dubbed the “Endgame” of Spider-Man films by director Jon Watts. The film is scheduled to release exclusively in theaters in little over a month from now, and audiences finally get a first poster, which unleashes the multiverse.

This is surprisingly the first official poster for the film. Up until this point the only marketing Sony has released for the film is  an official logo as well as a trailer in July. There are heavy rumors that a second trailer will be out shortly, and this poster somewhat confirms those rumors. If a second trailer is coming out it will be within the next few weeks.

The twitter account for the film responded to the post by saying, “go ahead, zoom in on those details.” While those details are rather clear, they are nonetheless exciting. The clearest to see are Doc Ock’s mechanical arms. They are the most prominent for the viewer as well for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Molina had been rumored for a long time, but was fully confirmed in the first trailer.

Other details in the poster are the hints at Electro and Sandman. Jamie Foxx’s return was confirmed more than year ago, while Thomas Haden Church’s return as Sandman was confirmed by Empire a little over a week ago. The electricity and sand in the poster are clear indications of those two characters, similar hints of those two villains appear in the first trailer from July.

Lastly, and quite possibly the biggest, Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin appears in the background of the poster. There is no argument here, it is clearly the same Goblin costume from Sam Raimi’s original 2002 Spiderman. There are rumors that the Goblin will have a new and improved look, but here, for promotional purposes, they are sticking to the original design.

That is a total of four referenced villains in the poster, most of which are Raimi-era villains and one of which is a Webb-era villain. Though, the hero shown is a part of the new MCU version of Spider-Man. The multiverse has indeed been unleashed in this poster, but hopefully there are more surprises on the way.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to hit theaters on December 17, 2021.
