James Gray’s The Lost City of Z premiered last year at the New York Film Festival and was snatched up by Amazon Studios. The distributor is now ready to release the indie and has put out the film’s first trailer, exclusively via Entertainment Weekly.
Based on the non-fiction book by David Grann, the story follows Charlie Hunnam (Crimson Peak) as Colonel Percival Fawcett, who disappeared while searching for an elusive lost city in the Amazon during the 1920s. The trailer shows his journey to be a perilous one, capturing the determination of Fawcett through its ominous tones.
Also starring in the film are Robert Pattinson (Life), Sienna Miller (Live By Night), and Tom Holland (soon to star in Spider-Man: Homecoming). Gray, known for Joaquin Phoenix-starrers We Own the Night and Two Lovers, both directed and adapted the film himself.
The Lost City of Z will be coming soon to theaters, however, it will first be making its way to the Berlin Film Festival next week. Check out the spooky trailer below as well as the film’s one-sheet.
