‘The Hunting Ground’ Trailer Takles Rape Culture at U.S. Universities

Producer Amy Ziering, and Kirby Dick, the writer-director behind The Invisible War, the 2012 documentary about sexual assault in the armed forces, have taken the issue to college campuses across the United States in their latest picture, The Hunting Ground. The filmmakers follow students Annie E. Clark and Andrea Pino (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) who, after being sexually assaulted and having their cases slighted by the University, created the organization End Rape on Campus (EROC).

Clark and Pino traveled around the country, taking their voices and the prevalent issue to other campuses. According to the film, 20% of students will be sexually assaulted during their college career. The documentary aims to show the world how significant this statistic really is, and the ways in which rape culture on campuses ultimately smothers it– through Greek life, athletics, University branding, etc.

The trailer below premiered on the heels of the film’s premiere this weekend at the Sundance Film Festival. The Hunting Ground will be released through RADiUS in March and on CNN later this year.
