‘The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2’ Gets New Trailer Ahead of Release

With a release date just over two months away nearing, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 has released new trailer today as a part of its massive marketing campaign currently in motion. A teaser was released earlier this year, revealing an evolution of the mockingjay logo changing over the first three movies followed by another more in depth teaser and finally an official trailer.

In the latest teaser, no new images are revealed in it other than a stoic Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) in a red suit, superimposed over the collage of images of the last three movies. It is aimed at touching an emotional chord with fans of the series. This being the last installment of the franchise, Lionsgate is reaching back all the way to when the phenomenon first started to build up anticipation for the last chapter.

From the iconic, “I volunteer as tribute,” line that set the franchise in motion, the whole trailer plays out to M83’s My Tears Are Becoming a Sea. While trying to not give away any spoilers, the biggest scene in the film features both Katniss and Prim (Willow Shields) and the trailer does its job of building up their relationship.

“I never asked for this, I just wanted to save my sister, and keep Peeta alive,” pleads Katniss, to which President Snow (Donald Sutherland) responds in the trailer, “it’s the things we love most, that destroy us.”

The entire trailer can be seen below.

Director Francis Lawrence returns to direct the Peter Craig and Danny Strong script. The whole cast returns for the final installment including Lawrence, Shields, Sutherland, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Julianne MoorePhillip Seymour Hoffman and Woody Harrelson.

The Hungergames: Mockingjay Part 2 hits theatres November 20.
