The Hotel Transylvania Franchise Is Returning With A Fifth Movie

The monster family is getting back together for another adventure. According to Variety, Sony Pictures Animation has officially announced Hotel Transylvania 5, with the film set to hit theaters on October 8, 2027. The new installment, titled The Haunting of Hotel Transylvania, marks the franchise’s return to theaters after Hotel Transylvania: Transformania was released exclusively on streaming.

This time, the story picks up after Dracula has stepped away from running the famous hotel, leaving Mavis in charge. But their quiet life does not last long. Variety reports that mysterious events begin taking place throughout the hotel, forcing Dracula and the rest of the monster crew to reunite and figure out what is behind the strange happenings. The new movie is expected to deliver the same mix of comedy, spooky fun, and family-friendly adventure that has made the series popular for more than a decade.

The first Hotel Transylvania debuted in 2012 and quickly became one of Sony Pictures Animation’s biggest franchises. Since then, the films have introduced audiences to Dracula, Mavis, Johnny, and a cast of lovable monsters, earning more than $1.3 billion worldwide across four movies. The series has still been a favorite with families thanks to its humor, memorable characters, and heartfelt stories.

While the studio has not revealed the full voice cast or many additional details, the announcement alone has generated plenty of excitement. With a theatrical release now on the calendar, fans can start looking forward to another visit to the world’s most famous monster hotel when Hotel Transylvania 5 arrives in 2027.
