After it was attached to 2014’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For in theaters, The Weinstein Company has finally released the teaser trailer for Quentin Tarantino’s (Pulp Fiction) The Hateful Eight online.
The teaser sets up the film’s setting and plot, which will follow eight stagecoach passengers stranded in Wyoming during the winter. Among the group is bounty hunter John Ruth (Kurt Russell), who is bringing his captive, Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh), to Red Rock where plans to bring her to justice. The trailer also highlights the six other passengers: Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson), Sheriff Chris Mannix (Walton Goggins), Bob (Demian Bichir), Oswald “The Little Man” Mobray (Tim Roth), Joe “The Cow Puncher” Gage (Michael Madsen), and former Confederate General (Bruce Dern). Channing Tatum also stars in the movie but his role has not been revealed.
The teaser then counts up to eight and, in true Tarantino fashion, each number gets a splatter of red paint. It also indicates that the movie will have the same splashes of blood that were in Tarantino’s other western and most recent film, Django Unchained.
Also highlighted is the fact that the movie will be presented in 70 mm widescreen in select theaters, the same format as many classic epics including Ben-Hur, Patton, and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master was also shot and released in the format, which made it a special event for cinephiles.
No release date has been announced but The Hateful Eight is expected to hit theaters in November. In the meantime you can check out the trailer below.
