With just over a month to go, the wait for the next James Bond movie, Spectre, will soon be over. Until that time, Sony has released the final trailer for the film, delivering the last teases of the climatic battle between Bond and his new foe, Franz Oberhauser (portrayed by Christoph Waltz).
The twenty-fourth film in the Bond franchises is by far the most anticipated in its long history. This isn’t a surprise considering the last Bond film, Skyfall, made over $1 billion at the box office and was adored by critics and fans. Skyfall, also won two Academy Awards (for Adele’s title song and for sound editing), an extreme rarity for James Bond film. Oscar winning director Sam Mendes (American Beauty) returned to direct with Daniel Craig reprises the role of James Bond for the fourth time.
To notch up the stakes, Oscar winner Christopher Waltz was cast as the villain opposite James Bond. Considering his pedigree playing cunning antagonists – he was absolutely masterful as Colonel Hans Landa in Quentin Tarantino‘s Inglorious Basterds – something tells us we’re in for a treat.
“And I thought you came here to die.” That’s how Franz Oberhauser ends his encounter with Bond in the trailer, which delivers more interaction between the super spy and leader of the rogue organization (Spectre) as they trade quips. It also highlights the mortal danger Bond always finds himself but eludes at the last second. Helicopters flying upside down and entire buildings collapsing upon James Bond, what more could you want from a Bond film?
