While The Fantastic Four: First Steps wrapped filming only a couple of days ago, some sets have not yet been taken down. The Daily Mail released new photos and a video of an unknown, abandoned underground set after filming finished. Photos also include maps from production under the name “Blue Moon,” giving a deeper look at the set piece at the Middleton mine in the Derbyshire Dales.
Whether or not this set will be a crucial element of the film remains to be seen. Due to more reports of the set floating around, it would not be surprising if Marvel Studios takes it down relatively soon. However, its discovery hints at the possibility of a classic Fantastic Four villain making their MCU debut.
Sources believe this underground set could suggest that Harvey Rupert Elder, aka Mole Man, will make an appearance in the film. While Galactus will reportedly be the main villain of the story, there is a chance that there will be some minor villains that appear in the film as well. There are still some actors with undisclosed roles, so there is a possibility one of them will take on the role of Mole Man.
Time will tell whether this set reveals that Mole Man will be in the film or if the location is meant to be setting up something else in the film. There is also hope that the film’s first trailer will reveal more about other possible villains and if this set is important to the story.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps releases in theaters July 25, 2025.
