Marvel Studios has finally revealed their cast for the highly anticipated Fantastic Four reboot, now titled The Fantastic Four. After years of speculation, rumors, and fancasts, Marvel has finally found their “first family.” In a surprise Valentine’s Day reveal on social media, Marvel Studios shared exclusive art of the Fantastic Four celebrating together.
After coming off of a groundbreaking few years starring in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, Pedro Pascal has been cast as the stretchy patriarch of the Fantastic Four, Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic. In the reveal art, Pascal’s Reed is dancing with his wife, Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, who is set to be played by The Crown and Mission Impossible’s Vanessa Kirby. Sue Storm’s brother Johnny, the Human Torch, sits alongside the pair. Johnny is set to be played by Joseph Quinn, known for his breakout role in the fourth season of Stranger Things. Finally, Ben Grimm/The Thing will be portrayed by Ebon Moss-Bachrach, known for The Bear and a small role in Star Wars: Andor. The reveal shows Ben already in his superhero form, but the portrait of Ben’s time as an astronaut on the wall implies that we will see flashbacks with Moss-Bachrach before he becomes the iconic hero. Also revealed in the art is the Fantastic Four’s companion robot, H.E.R.B.I.E.
While Marvel is coy about releasing any more information on the film, the Valentine’s Day artwork implies a 1960s aesthetic to the film. Perhaps Marvel is looking to make The Fantastic Four a period piece to match the world that Stan Lee and Jack Kirby both created in 1961’s Fantastic Four #1 over 60 years ago.
The Fantastic Four is set to release on July 25, 2025. Director Matt Shakman is set to lead the project. WandaVision mixed period piece aesthetics with superhero storytelling, making Shakman the perfect director to bring Marvel’s First Family to life. The script’s first draft was written by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer, with the most recent version penned by Avatar: Way of the Water storyteller Josh Friedman.
