As more and more footage continues to pour in for Blade Runner 2049, it is clear that the sequel to the beloved sci-fi classic is in good hands. Director Denis Villenueve (Sicario, Arrival) meets science fiction with style for a visually compelling movie event — and that’s just the trailers.
2049 takes place 30 years after the events of the original 1982 Blade Runner. LAPD Officer K (Ryan Gosling) uncovers a hidden secret that threatens the destruction of what’s left of human society. This takes him on a journey in search of Harrison Ford‘s Rick Deckard — who has been in hiding for 30 years — to help combat this perilous force.
Starring alongside Gosling and Ford are Ana de Armas, Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Dave Bautista, and Edward James Olmos. Michael Green (Logan) and Hampton Fancher of the original film co-penned the script.
Check out the film’s second trailer below, which takes you deeper into the Blade Runner world and into the character dynamics between Officer K and Deckard. Blade Runner 2049 hits theaters on October 6.
