“The Croods 2: A New Age” Tops Holiday Box-Office

Because of the pandemic 2020 has seen some underwhelming box office theater results for movies. In America the Thanksgiving holiday is usually a good time for movies, especially family films, to come out. But according to Variety this Thanksgiving most theaters around the U.S. have been closed.

However some movies like the recent animated feature The Croods: A New Age are still being released into theaters. Comic Book Resources reports that The Croods: New Age earned over $9 million during its first weekend. Even though this amount seems meager, especially compared to the first The Croods movie which earned $43 million on its opening weekend, but The Croods: New Age has surpassed the opening box office of Christoper Nolan’s Tenet. As of right not The Croods: New Age has earned about $20 million international.

The Croods: New Age is the sequel to the 2013 animated movie The Croods. The plot of the sequel follows a family of primitive cave people called the Croods, who encounter a family slightly more advanced people called the Bettemans. When the Croods move into the Betterman’s territory hijinks ensue. The movie’s voice cast includes Nicholas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Keener, Peter Dinklage, Kelly Marie Tran, and Leslie Mann.
