The Berlin Film Festival Honors Several Projects In Annual Ceremony

The time for film festivals is underway, with several festival staples already hosting their annual events. Among these is the Berlin Film Festival, who have just recently announced the winners for their respective awards.

Their Golden Bear Award, which is given to their choice of the best movie within their lineup, was given to Dreams, directed by Dag Johan Haugerud. Last year, the award went to Dahomey.

Dreams focuses on a woman recounting her experiences as she began to enter adulthood, involving her falling for a female teacher that would shape the rest of her life as she knew it. Ella Øverbye and Selome Emnetu led the cast.

The Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize went to The Blue Trail this year, while the Silver Bear Jury Prize went to The Message.

Hollywood Reporter, who also posted the full list of winners across their categories, noted that Rose Byrne took home the Silver Bear for Best Leading Performance. Known for roles in Insidious and Bridesmaids, Byrne won this year for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.

Similarly, they also noted that the Silver Bear for Best Supporting Performance went to Andrew Scott. He was specifically awarded for Blue Moon, from Richard Linklater.
