Thanksgiving Box Office Clash: ‘Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds And Snakes’ Towers With $98.3M Remaining The Victor Over This Holiday Weekend; ‘Napoleon’ And ‘Wish’ Continue The Fight – Update

A fierce competition is unfolding at the Thanksgiving box office between Disney’s Wish, Lionsgate’s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and Apple Original Production Napoleon. While Hunger Games has received a sizable amount, Disney and Apple are struggling to catch up to at least break even.

Hunger Games is on its way to help earn enough to surpass its $100 million budget. After two weeks, the dystopian film has gained over $69.6 million at the domestic box office with a $42 million projection over this Thanksgiving weekend. It might not seem like enough for Lionsgate, but it is far more successful than its opponents from Disney and Apple.

Both Wish and Napoleon have been underperforming as Thanksgiving blockbusters. Wish earned $3.9 million over Thanksgiving, totaling $12.2 million, while Napoleon earned $4.4 million on Thanksgiving and is projected to gross $33 million over the five-day holiday period.

Both films have had high production costs, with Wish and Napoleon costing $200 million each and struggling to profit. However, Apple is less concerned about financial success due to its focus on generating excitement for Apple TV+.
