Tessa Thompson Cast in Disney’s ‘Lady and the Tramp’ Live-Action/CGI Hybrid

Disney’s live-action/ CGI hybrid film Lady and the Tramp has finally cast its ‘Lady’. Tessa Thompson will voice the lead character Lady and play opposite Justin Theroux who was previously cast as the voice of Tramp. The original Lady and the Tramp animated film was released in 1955 and has been a family favorite ever since. With the success Disney has seen in recent years with the adaptations of animated films into live-action such as Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella and Maleficent, audiences are clamoring to see other Disney darlings make their way into the conversion.

Disney was lucky to snag Thompson since she has been a very busy actress. After her success starring alongside Michael B. Jordan in the 2015 hit Creed, Thompson joined the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Valkyrie opposite Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in Ragnarok. More recently, she was in the hits Sorry to Bother You and Annihilation with the anticipation to reprise her role in the upcoming Creed II.

In addition to Thompson and Theroux, Dope’s Kiersey Clemons will play the role of Darling, Doctor Strange actor Benedict Wong will voice an English bulldog named Bull, and familiar Disney voice Ashely Jensen will don the role of Jackie, a character that is reprised of the animated Scottish terrier Jock.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie director, Charlie Bean, is teaming up with producers Brigham Taylor and script writer Andrew Bujalski to bring Lady and the Tramp to life…literally. Extraordinarily, this adaption will not see the big screen, but for good reason. Disney will be launching their very own streaming service in 2019. Lady and the Tramp will be one of the five new films that will be exclusively available to see on the new service.

Aspiring to be an author who is trying to split my family life from my work life is tough but I hope to do so in equal parts for a happy medium. I am new to the business of writing and editing, but I am confident in my skills. My husband and I have been married for 15 years and we have two beautiful daughters. My youngest daughter battles epilepsy so I am her advocate in several ways. One way in particular is that I am currently writing a children's book that lets other children with disabilities know that they are not alone. Last fun fact is that our family is also proud fur parents to three rescue chi-mix dogs.
