‘Tenet’ Star Robert Pattinson Suggests There is No Time Travel in the Film

While the whole entertainment industry is waiting with anxious breath at the release of Tenet, we at least have some idea of what the film is not about. Robert Pattinson says there’s no time-traveling in Christopher Nolan’s newest espionage thriller, despite what the trailer suggested. Christopher Nolan has always explored humanities’ and film’s relationship with time since his second feature Memento.

Pattinson, in a quarantine interview with GQ half-jokingly said “I have no idea” what the movie is actually about. Despite this, Pattinson was able to confirm details around his character and the film in general, “He’s not a time traveler. There’s actually no time traveling. [laughs] That’s, like, the one thing I’m approved to say.”

Even if time-travel isn’t an aspect of the film, it is very possible that its characters mess with time in other ways to prevent World War III or “something worse” as the trailer suggests. Regardless, Tenet looks and sounds fascinating. Whether it stands up to Nolan’s previous works is to be seen, but it’s all star cast, large budget, and complex ideas suggest that it might do just that.

Tenet is tentatively scheduled for theatrical release July 17th, but is subject to change as result of the coronavirus pandemic.
