Taron Egerton Faces Off Against Jason Bateman In Netflix’s High-Stakes Thriller ‘Carry-On’

Netflix’s upcoming thriller Carry-On promises to make holiday travel more intense than ever, with a gripping face-off between Taron Egerton and Jason Bateman. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Black Adam, Jungle Cruise), the film is set to land on the streaming platform on December 13, just in time for the holiday season.

In Carry-On, Egerton stars as a rookie TSA agent who gets caught up in a dangerous situation when Bateman’s character, a mysterious traveler, blackmails him into smuggling a perilous package onto a flight. The tension ramps up as the stakes become clear: lives are on the line, and Egerton’s character must make a choice under extreme pressure.

“You have 10 minutes before everybody in this airport dies,” Bateman’s chilling voiceover declares in the trailer. “All you have to do is nothing.”

The film’s ensemble cast includes Sofia Carson, Danielle Deadwyler, Sinqua Walls, Logan Marshall-Green, Theo Rossi, Josh Brener and Dean Norris, promising a well-rounded supporting lineup to the thriller’s intense lead duo. The screenplay was written by T.J. Fixman, with Dylan Clark serving as producer and Collet-Serra among the executive producers.

Egerton, best known for his roles in the Kingsman series and his portrayal of Elton John in Rocketman, brings a sense of vulnerability and pressure to his character in Carry-On

In a recent interview, Egerton shed light on his character’s inner turmoil: “He’s unhappy at work and feels dejected. He’s just found out his girlfriend is pregnant, so there’s pressure to be a responsible provider, but he also feels unfulfilled,” Egerton said. “When he’s put in this terrible situation, he has to rise to the occasion.”

Jason Bateman, recently seen in Fool’s Paradise and Air, brings his signature intensity to the role of the antagonist, delivering a performance that pairs perfectly with Egerton’s conflicted hero.

With Collet-Serra at the helm, Carry-On looks to deliver edge-of-your-seat suspense, setting the stage for a tense holiday thriller that Netflix audiences won’t want to miss.
