Take A Look At The Coming-of-Age Story Of Four Women In ‘Little Women’s’ First Trailer

Louisa May Alcott’s novel Little Women comes alive on the big screen in Greta Gerwig’s adaptation of the story. Gerwig reunites with Timothee Chalamet as Laurie and Saoirse Ronan as the brazen protagonist Jo in their second film together since Lady Bird. Alongside Jo, the other three sisters in the story are Meg (Emma Watson), Amy (Florence Pugh) and Beth March (Eliza Scanlen). The four women are advised by their Aunt March (Meryl Streep) and their mother Marmee (Laura Dern).

The trailer opens with Jo proposing a novel about her life. She, along with her sisters, desire to blaze new trails in redefining what it means to be a woman during the time of the Civil War. As Aunt March tells Jo, a woman’s main goal at the time was to find a husband and marry into wealth. Laurie presents the possibility of a love interest to Jo.

Past adaptations of the film include the 1933 Little Women starring Katherine Hepburn, Joan Bennett, and Paul Lukas, and the 1994 version with Wynona Rider, Christian Bale, Susan Sarandon, and Claire Danes.

Little Women is scheduled to premiere in theaters during the holiday season on December 25.
