‘Swoon’ Gains Kassandra Lee Diaz For Leading Role

Upcoming thriller film Swoon has just secured its lead actress, Kassandra Lee Diaz. The film is set to be directed by Byron Manuel.

The young actress has worked with Manuel on several projects before, such as the short film Gemini, as well as the TV series Trifecta.

Diaz has also starred in Rag Doll, You Married Dat, and is credited as Buttercup in several PowerPuff Girls shorts. Manuel has directed Kidnapping Keyon, an episode of Famous-ish, and helped work on five episodes of the award-winning series Euphoria.

As Hollywood Reporter states, the plot follows a woman that has been kidnapped and bound to a bed by a man trying to convince her that he is her fiancé. Manuel, who wrote the film as well, went on to say that the story was influenced by some works of prolific author Stephen King.

In regards to the film, Manuel said he “was heavily inspired by the human desire of how we are obsessed with both love, and the feeling of being in suspense. Developing Swoon allowed me to explore both in their own warped way, as well as taking my love of Stephen King’s thrillers and putting my stamp on the genre in an urban setting. Plot-twisting romance told through a Barbarian like structure, which is slightly outside the lines, but also stays true to the genre so we could jam-pack each moment with tension within this character-driven story.”

Alongside Diaz, the movie features DeRon Cash, Rich Morrow, Efrangeliz Medina, and Dean Wil, among others. Ryan Rojas, Kassandra Lee Diaz, Rich Morrow, Justin Graves and Byron Manuel are set to produce. The executive producers are Franco Tavera, Cash Oliver, Lily and Raul Terrezas, Cameron Duncan, and JP Ouellette’s production company Circa 1888.
