Super Bowl: Disney’s ‘The Jungle Book’ Premieres Official Trailer

Super Bowl 50 brought out the official trailer debut of Disney’s live action/hybrid The Jungle Book. Directed by Jon Favreau (Iron Man) from a screenplay by Jason Marks (Pan). This re-imagining – on point in Disney’s continued streak of mining their animated classics (Maleficent, Cinderella) – puts a modern spin on the 1960s animated classic based on Rudyard Kipling’s classic novel.

The story follows an orphan boy is raised in the jungle with the help of a pack of wolves, a bear, and a black panther. These animal friends and foes are voiced by all-star cast that includes Bill Murray (Baloo), Ben Kingsley (Bagheera), Scarlett Johansson (Kaa), Idris Elba (Shere Khan) and Lupita Nyong’o (Raksha). Newcomer Neel Sethi stars as Mowgli.

Disney’s The Jungle Book will open ahead of Warner Bros.’ upcoming Jungle Book: Origins, a similarly hybrid project directed by Andy SerkisThe Jungle Book is scheduled to open in theaters on April 15th. Check out the trailer below.
