The Sundance Institute has announced eight women selected for the Sundance Women to Watch x Adobe Fellowship.
“We’re excited to partner with Adobe to champion and uplift this talented group of women artists who are working across creative disciplines,” said Michelle Satter, the Senior Director of the Artist Programs at Sundance Institute.
All fellowships winners receive a $6,250 cash grant; access to skill-building workshops and career development opportunities, and a 12-month membership to Adobe Creative Cloud.
The fellows are listed below, in alphabetical order:
Jalena Keane is a filmmaker who co-founded Breaktide Productions, a production company run completely by women of color that has won two Cannes Lion awards.
Naomi Ko is a filmmaker, former Sundance Episodic fellow, Sundance Art of Practice fellow, Jerome Hill Artist fellow, and is currently a Bush Leadership fellow.
Dawne Langford is a filmmaker, Sundance Producers Lab fellow, and former broadcast television editor.
Neyda Martinez is a producer and associate professor at The New School whose board service includes NYU’s Latinx Project, UPROSE, and Women Make Movies.
Fox Maxy is a filmmaker; she is a Sundance Institute’s Merata Mita fellow and a Vera List Center Borderlands fellow.
April Maxey is a director whose short Work screened at Sundance, Tribeca, Palm Springs Shortfest, Inside Out, and Outfest, where it won the Grand Jury Prize for Outstanding U.S. Narrative Short.
Gabriela Ortega is an award-winning interdisciplinary artist and an alum of the Sundance Feature Film Program labs.
Keisha Rae Witherspoon is a writer-director. Her short film T screened in 2020 at the Sundance Film Festival, and later at Berlinale where it won the Golden Bear.
