Steven Yeun’s Character In ‘Thunderbolts’ Movie Revealed

Steven Yeun, star of the Netflix original series The Beef, is set to be a part of Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts. In an interview, Invincibles creator Robert Kirkman revealed Yeun’s role in the new superhero movie. Kirkman said, “My good friend Steven Yeun is playing the Sentry in a movie. I don’t think this is a spoiler or anything that I’ll get anybody in trouble. I don’t know. Maybe. We’ll see. I don’t care. I don’t work for Marvel. What are they gonna do to me? He called and said, ‘I just came back from a costume fitting for the Sentry. I guess I only do superheroes that wear blue and yellow.”

Yeun voices the titular teen superhero, Mark Grayson/Invincible, for Kirkman’s Prime Video animated show. Invincible, like Sentry, also wears a blue and yellow suit, prompting Yeun to connect the two.

Yeun will work with Jake Schreier and Lee Sung Jin again, as both previously worked on The Beef. Lee Sung Jin, creator of The Beef, wrote the screenplay for the upcoming movie, and Jake Schrier will once again direct.

Thunderbolts shifts the story away from the typical superhero, and will instead focus on a team of antiheroes and villains. Steven Yeun will be joined by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Hannah Jon-Kamen, Olga Kerleynki, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, and Florence Pugh.

Filming is scheduled to start soon, and the movie is set to be released in July 2025.
