Toy Story 4 is still long way from releasing, and there have already been a bunch of changes made to the infrastructure. The latest to the changes include the signing of a new writer: Stephany Folsom has officially joined as the screenplay creator for the film, according to Variety.
The changes all began in July when John Lasseter, the director of the original Toy Story and its sequel, as well one of the most important figures at Pixar, left his position at Pixar after alleged misconduct against several women in the animation industry. Josh Cooley then fully-occupied the directorial role after Lasseter’s widely-reported departure. Finally, Rashida Jones and Will McCormack, the original writers for the new film, dropped in November after reported “philosophical differences” with Pixar. Namely, they believed that the company ought to ensure that they allow more diversity so that people of color and women can also have wider and more frequent creative roles in order to establish fully impartial rights.
Though the production has lost a fair amount of creators, many of the original voice cast is returning to reprise their roles, including Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Blake Clark, Laurie Metcalf, and Annie Potts. Nothing about the story has been announced, and we are interested to see where the plot will go after what appeared to be a wrap-up in the previous film.
