‘Star Wars’ Actor and Renowned Voice Coach Andrew Jack Dies from COVID-19

This week has seen much unfortunate news surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Another respected name from the entertainment industry passed away on Tuesday, Andrew Jack, who died at age 76 from coronavirus.

Jack was recently seen as Resistance General Ematt in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. In that role he acted alongside Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, and Oscar Isaac as a member of the deciding committee for major Resistance actions.

Behind the camera he worked as a voice coach for actors in films such as Guardians of the Galaxy, The Avengers, Lord of the Rings, Solo, and most recently The Batman, which is still scheduled for 2021.

He is survived by his wife Gabrielle Rogers, who he loved deeply and who worked alongside him as a fellow dialect coach. During his struggle with the virus in England, Rogers was tragically quarantined in Australia and unable to see him before he passed.

Though there may not be a proper funeral for Jack, many who have worked with him over the years have expressed their regards for his wife, respect to his legacy, and their fond memories of his character.
