‘Spring Offensive’ to be Developed by ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ Director Matt Reeves

Fox has acquired Spring Offensive, a political thriller to be based on a spec script written by Matthew McInerney-Lacombe.

While full plot details are not known at this time, it will be in the political thriller genre and will feature female leads, according to Variety.

Matt Reeves, who directed last year’s Dawn of the Planet of the Apes to a cool $710 million worldwide gross, is slated to direct. Adam Kassan will produce for Reeves’ banner company, 6th and Idaho, with Rafi Crohn overseeing the project.

Reeves previously directed Cloverfield, a found footage monster horror film produced by J.J Abrams and Bryan Burke. Reeves and Abrams co-created the TV series Felicity starring Keri Russell. Reeves signed 3-year first-look deal with Fox following Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, which was a sequel to 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes. He is currently co-writing and helming the third installment, War for the Planet of the Apes, which bows in 2017.
