Back towards the end of July, the first trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s latest, Split, was released and boy did it not disappoint. Following closely behind his last, The Visit, Shyamalan wants another crack at creeping us out.
In Split, the lead role of Kevin is played by James McAvoy. Kevin is a sick man who suffers from a multiple personality disorder, 23 personalities to be exact. One day, the seemingly harmless appearance of Kevin changes as he is compelled to abduct three teenage girls in the middle of the day. While being held captive, a final personality begins to slowly materialize, called “The Beast.”
The second trailer seems to focus more on the diagnosis of Kevin and what he’s capable of once this “Beast” is released. The personalities McAvoy is going to bring to life on the screen are distinct and I’m sure they will make many of us uncomfortable in our seats. Other than The Beast, one other personality does standout in the new trailer, Hedwig.
Hedwig, who is only nine years old eerily warns the girls that “He’s done awful things to people and he’ll do awful things to you.”
The film also stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Haley Lu Richardson, and Jessica Sula.
Split is set to hit theaters January 20th. Enjoy the second trailer below!
