‘Spider-Verse’ Editor Confirms Multiple Film Versions Theory

Since Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse hit theaters on June 2nd, thousands of fans have flocked to theaters. However, fans on Tiktok and Twitter recently noticed that theaters across the globe have been showing different versions of the film.

One of the many editors who worked on Across the Spiderverse, Andy Leviton, confirmed the existence of multiple versions of the movie on his Twitter account.

In one version of the scene, Lyla, Miguel O’Hara’s tiny floating AI assistant voiced by Greta Lee, simply points at Miguel. In another, she whips out a phone and takes a selfie with him. Others on Tiktok and Twitter claim to have noticed differences in the scenes where Miles is chased through the Spider Society’s building by the other Spider-People, but no one from the creative team of the movie has confirmed these differences yet.

Many fans have enjoyed the decision to add different cuts to the movie, saying it enhances the idea of a multiverse existing in the film.

Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse has been a hit at the box office and will likely be in theaters for another few weeks. The third installment of the series, Spiderman: Beyond the Spider-Verse, is scheduled for release in March 2024, but it will most likely be delayed due to labor concerns from animators and artists.
