In its second weekend, Spider-Man: Brand New Day earned $143 million at the domestic box office, the third-best domestic second weekend ever behind Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens and Avengers: Endgame. This puts the film’s worldwide total at $655 million, making it the highest 10-day domestic sum in box office history. In addition, the film has already crossed $1 billion internationally, becoming the second fastest film to do so behind Avengers: Endgame.
The film’s second weekend total has shown it to have tremendous legs, especially compared to previous live-action Spider-Man movies. Spider-Man: No Way Home, the previous live-action Spider-Man movie, made only $84.5 million domestically; though, it was also a post-COVID release and had very little theatrical competition. Spider-Man: Far From Home made even less than that, making only $45 million domestically in its second weekend.
This total is also especially impressive considering the film is sharing the box office with other recent box office successes. These include Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which recently became the highest-grossing Christopher Nolan movie, making over $1 billion worldwide. It also shared the market with Toy Story 5, which has grossed $1.094 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing film in the Toy Story franchise.
Only time will tell what Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s total will be by the end of its theatrical run. For now, audiences can still see the film on the big screen, as it is currently playing in theaters.
