Audiences can finally return to a galaxy far, far away this summer, when The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters. Ahead of the film’s release, however, Lucasfilm is opting for a new strategy, deciding to host a special look ever in IMAX theaters on May 4th.
The Mandalorian & Grogu picks up where season three of the Disney+ series left off. After the fall of the Empire, remnants of the Imperial Army continuously try to establish a foothold to rebuild the tyrannical regime they once followed so closely. The New Republic, trying to combat their forces, hire the help of intergalactic bounty hunter Din Djarin, with the help of the young Grogu, to traverse a harsh criminal underworld and take down an Imperial warlord before he can cause any more damage.
Star Wars fans are no doubt counting down the days to Mando & Grogu’s May 22nd release date, but a recent announcement from Disney could satiate their hunger for a new adventure. Just in time for May 4th, widely regarded as Star Wars day, very select IMAX screens will run a special, limited preview event for the upcoming adventure.
A press release from Lucasfilm revealed that lucky ticket holders will be able to see up to 25 minutes of new footage. On top of the new footage, fans will also receive a special limited edition poster, on top of other aspects that have yet to be released.
The Mandalorian & Grogu hits theaters May 22nd.
