Singer Sky Ferreira Joins Ensemble for ‘Elvis & Nixon’

Pop singer Sky Ferreira is set to appear in the indie biopic Elvis & Nixon, according to THR. She joins Kevin Spacey (American Beauty) and Michael Shannon (Revolutionary Road) who play President Richard Nixon and rockabilly king Elvis Presley, respectively. The films tells the story of the December 20, 1970 meeting between the two powerful men.

Instigated by Presley, he wrote the President a six-page letter requesting a visit and expressing his desire to be made a “Federal Agent-at-Large” in the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs

Directed by Liza Johnson (Hateship Loveship) and co-written by Cary Elwes (The Princess Bride), the film also stars Colin Hanks (TV’s Fargo), Alex Pettyfer (I Am Number Four), Johnny Knoxville (The Ringer), and Evan Peters (TV’s American Horror Story). Ferreira will play the love interest of Elvis’s best friend and travelling companion, Jerry Schilling (Pettyfer).

Ferreira previously appeared in Eli Roth’s horror The Green Inferno; however, this will be her first high-profile film. Although surrounded and led by an Oscar winner (Spacey), an Oscar nominee (Shannon), and a Golden Globe nominee (Hanks), eyes will be on her, not only by her music fans, but also as one of the only female characters in the ensemble cast.
