Both M. Night and Ishana Shyamalan will be having their respective films released this summer, giving audiences a thriller time to remember.
According to Variety, M. Night said in a sit-down conversation with his daughter present that the films being released close together wasn’t intentional; it was just Warner Brothers deciding the best time for these release dates.
Based on the schedule for the Shyamalans, Ishana will have her thriller, The Watchers, released on June 14. Adapted by author A.M. Shine, the film follows Dakota Fanning as a woman stuck in a room in the woods with other people. They are watched by a mysterious audience each night known as The Watchers.
A few months later will be M. Night’s turn with his film Trap releasing on August 9. This film has actor Josh Hartnett playing a father going to a concert with his daughter. However, he realizes that it’s a trap for him to be captured and revealed as the serial killer known as The Butcher.
During the conversation, Ishana was asked if she wanted to shy away from becoming a film director like her father. She said it wasn’t an option; however, it wasn’t until later that she wanted to start pursuing directing and storytelling, as she was doing other types of art in her life.
M. Night also spoke about his latest film, revealing he was inspired to make a concert-centered story based on the performances of his other daughter, singer-songwriter Saleka Shyamalan. She will also be a part of this summer of thrills, as she is starring in Trap as the concert’s performer.
For those who are a fan of M. Night, but also want to learn more about Ishana and her form of filmmaking, this summer will allow you to experience it all.
