Shout! Studio and Studiocanal have teamed up for distribution rights to the upcoming animated family film Little Vampire in North America. The author of the children’s book Little Vampire and The Rabbi’s Cat, Joann Sfar, directed the film. Sfar has directed The Little Vampire TV series and The Rabbi’s Cat animated film. Deadline is the first to report the news.
For the last 300 years, the Little Vampire has been 10 years old. He is bored to death despite living in a haunted house with a merry band of monsters. His dream? Going to school to meet other kids and make friends. His parents, however, will not allow him to leave the mansion because the outside world is much too dangerous! So Little Vampire sneaks out in the middle of the night in search of new friends. He soon meets a human boy named Michael, but their friendship attracts the wrath of the fearsome Gibbus, an ancient foe who has been after Little Vampire and his family for centuries.
“We are beyond happy to have found the perfect home for The Little Vampire in North America with Shout! Studios. We know our Little Vampire and his endearing friends will be in great hands with the Shout! team, and we can’t wait for US and Canadian audiences to see the film which focuses on values which are particularly essential these days: tolerance, kindness, acceptance, and the importance of friendship.” says Chloé Marquet, Head of International Sales for Studiocanal to Deadline.
