When Shia LaBeouf was spottted earlier this year with a large new tattoo that read “Creeper,” across his chest, many had wondered what had gotten into the 34 year-old actor. It turns out that the tattoo, strange even by his standards, is completely real and was actually given to him in playing his role in the upcoming film, The Tax Collector, per People Magazine.
LaBeouf has been known to go all-out in preparing for his roles before, as he had a tooth pulled to play Boyd “Bible” Swan in 2014’s Fury, per director David Ayer, and then went on to play his own abusive father on 2019’s Honey Boy, a film he wrote while in rehab based on his own life. .
The Tax Collector, directed by Ayer (Fury, Sucide Squad) stars LaBeouf’s Creeper and Bobby Soto’s (A Better Life) David as money collectors for various gang-related debts. It also stars newcomer Cynthia Cameron, George Lopez, and more.
You can see LaBeouf’s tattoo in all of its glory when the film is released on August 7th 2020, pending no postponements due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is LaBeouf’s first role since the cathartic Honey Boy and Ayer’s first directorial project since 2017’s Bright.
