Shia LaBeouf Wearily Returns to Civilian Life in the Trailer for ‘Man Down’

As a possible alternative to Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk, Lionsgate is releasing the war drama Man Down on December 2. The film stars Shia LaBeouf (Fury) as the actor once again explores the psyche of the American soldier. This time around, LaBeouf plays Marine Gabriel Drummer who returns from war to post-apocalyptic America in search of his wife (Kate Mara, The Martian) and son, while psychologically damaged by one particularly painful battle experience. Along for the journey is his trigger-happy comrade in arms (Jai CourtneySuicide Squad).

The film was directed by Dito Montiel who directed LaBeouf’s very first gritty turn in  A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. The trailer shows a matured LaBeouf in a similarly bold and downtrodden role, as he seems to turn in another complex and boundary defying performance. While the trailer seems like a misplaced music video at times, the intensity of the actors and story tease what looks like a thrilling and emotional film.

Man Down also stars Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight) and Clifton Collins, Jr. (Pacific Rim). See the trailer below.
