The musician FKA Twigs is looking to end her lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend, actor Shia LaBeouf. Twigs sued LaBeouf in 2020 for alleged sexual battery, alleged assault and allegedl infliction of emotional distress. On July 21, Twigs asked the court to dismiss all claims against LaBeouf with prejudice, which means she cannot refile the claims in the future.
“Committed to forging a constructive path forward, we have agreed to settle our case out of court,” the musician’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, and the actor’s lawyer, Shawn Holley, said in a shared statement issued on behalf of their clients. “While the details of the settlement will remain private, we wish each other personal happiness, professional success and peace in the future.”
The two became a couple after Twigs, born Tahliah Debrett Barnett, was cast in LaBeouf’s 2019 film, Honey Boy. Throughout their relationship, she accused him of allegedly choking her and allegedly knowingly giving her a sexually transmitted disease. She also detailed an alleged incident where Labeouf allegedly threatened to crash the car he was driving while Twigs was a passenger and allegedly physically attacked her when they stopped at a gas station.
LaBeouf had denied all claims. He said many of the claims were “not true” but told the New York Times, “I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel. I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.”
