The Grinch is probably one of the most iconic Dr. Seuss characters of all time, with his unique design and rather nice and simple story. The character has received one 2-D cartoon that commonly plays during Christmas and one live-action feature film featuring the comedy legend Jim Carrey. The story is now receiving yet another feature film, this time featuring 3-D models and one of the current faces behind the BBC series actor of Sherlock Holmes. Watch Benedict Cumberbatch play the mean one himself, Mr. Grinch, in the first trailer.
The Grinch follows the story of the titular character who cannot stand the happiness that exudes from Who-ville. Every day leading up to Christmas, Who-ville grows more joyful, noisy, and full of holiday delights, which bothers the Grinch to no end. After finding out that the citizens of Who-ville will be loudest they have ever been on Christmas, the Grinch hatches a plan to steal Christmas. His wicked plan is to dress up as Santa Claus on Christmas Eve, going around the town of Who-ville stealing all of the happiness in an attempt for some peace and quiet. The power of one girl, however, will change the Grinch’s life forever.
The movie is being directed by Yarrow Cheney and Scott Mosier with a script adaptation from Michael LeSieur. The film is set to release sometime in November of this year, just in time for the holiday season.
